Billing and repayments have become increasingly complex due to the proliferation of managed care companies. If we have signed a participating agreement with your insurer, we will bill them. You are responsible for your co-pay at the time of service. If we do not participate in your insurance plan, payment is expected at the time of your visit. If you are an established “self-pay” patient and need to make payment arrangements please contact our billing department prior to your appointment. While we are here to help, it is ultimately your responsibility to understand your insurance benefits with your insurance carrier. Some policies have very intricate rules about what is and is not covered. If you have traditional major medical coverage, reimbursement is frequently based on the company’s own schedule of reasonable and customary fees for each procedure or exam. Unfortunately, your company’s reasonable and customary fees frequently do not reflect the fees that are typical of Ob/Gyns in the area.
